Practical color management from screen to output
Unified Color helps photographers, designers, image editors and print buyers understand the steps between an image on screen and its final output. Our aim is to make color-management concepts clear enough to support reliable workflow decisions—not simply explain the terminology.
We focus on the choices that bring the display, file, proof and finished output into closer agreement. That includes selecting an appropriate color space, using ICC profiles correctly, calibrating a display, evaluating output limits and assessing a proof under meaningful viewing conditions.
What we cover
Our editorial scope includes Color Spaces & Profiles, Calibration & Displays, Print Color, HDR & Bit Depth, and Workflow & Proofing. These subjects are connected, but their roles are distinct. The goal is to help readers identify which part of a workflow needs attention before a color mismatch becomes an expensive surprise.
Available guides address practical questions such as choosing between sRGB, Adobe RGB and Display P3, setting monitor brightness for print matching, and using soft proofing before ordering a print. We also explain why prints can look darker than a screen and what different proof types can actually confirm. Future articles will continue building useful guidance across these core subjects.
